‘Teeth in an hour’ is a special technique Dr Horvath has been trained for in Munster, Germany. (www.nobelbiocare.com)
The method briefly:
First visit, takes 1 day
- We make a CT scan.
- We send this CT scan to Sweden,
- The Swedish company makes a personalised computer plan showing precisely where the titanium screws have to be implanted.
Second visit, takes 1 day
(2 weeks between the two visits to send the CT to Sweden and get it back)
- Dr Horvath implants the screws based on the 3 dimensional plan without surgery, because he knows exactly where the screws have to be placed.
- Patient gets a temporary bridge for 4 months, which look like real teeth. The bridge is made in advance based on the computer plan.
Third visit takes 3-5 days
(Our technician needs to make a final bridge)
- 4 months later the patient gets the final bridge or tooth on the screws.
Advantage of the technique for the patient:
- No major surgery
- Gets final-look teeth right after the implantation (temporary bridge)
- Very accurate
- Save time in the dental chair
- Dramatic change right after the implantation
Disadvantage for the patient
- One extra visit
- Cannot be done if the patient does not have enough bone.
- In the case of extraction the hole is already there and we can put the screw directly into the hole, there’s no real benefit of the computer plan.
- Slightly more expensive because we charge for the computer planning.
Summary: Longer planning time, shorter time in the dental chair, three visits.
