A dental implant is a metal device designed to replace missing teeth. The device is usually made out of titanium and is surgically placed into the jawbone where the tooth is missing it is then topped with realistic replacement teeth. Unlike a dental bridge, an implant is permanent. A dental implant is designed to act as the tooth root and can anchor an artificial tooth or teeth such as a crown, bridge or denture.

Veneers – “Hollywood Smile”
Thin, aesthetic porcelain shells bonded onto the front side of teeth. They are usually used for aesthetic reasons, e.g. if the colour of teeth is too dark, if their shape is unpleasant, if the gap between adjacent teeth is too large, or any other aesthetic reason. An impression is taken of your teeth, then the veneers are prepared by the technician, and the dentist places them on your teeth with a special, very strong bonding material. Using veneers is a beautiful, aesthetic solution to cosmetic problems.

Inlay/Onlay
Fillings extending over several surfaces of the tooth, prepared by the coordinated work of the dentist and the dental technician. They take two appointments to prepare. The dentist will remove the decayed portion of the tooth, then create a special cavity in the tooth. Based on the impression taken of your teeth, the technician will create the filling of the colour you decided on. Smaller ones are called inlays, and larger/extended are called onlays.
Amalgam filling change
Amalgam fillings can cause a 100 mV continuous galvanic action which may leech Mercury into the gum tissue. The protocol we follow when removing mercury amalgam fillings is based on that of the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAOMT).

Root Canal
The aim of the treatment is to remove all infection from the root canal. The root is then cleaned and filled to prevent any further infection. Root canal treatment is a skilled and time-consuming procedure. Most courses of treatment will involve two or more visits to your dentist.
At the first appointment, the infected pulp is removed. Any abscesses, which may be present, can also be drained at this time. The root canal is then cleaned and shaped ready for the filling. A temporary filling is put in and the tooth is left to settle. The tooth is checked at a later visit and when all the infection has cleared, the tooth is permanently filled. |
*Latest implant technology “Teeth-in-an-Hour” – this method of implantation requires minimum surgical intervention and the implant and restorative crown are fitted simultaneously (hence – “Teeth-in-an-Hour”).
